The Lost Provider
Twelve years ago, a group of insurgents kidnapped their prince in hopes of ending their empire’s war against a rival. They only vanished, and the war raged until their empire annexed the territory. But rumors of a Robin Hood figure leading a rebellion against the imperial forces are the first lead a chronicler has had on his father who went missing in the gambit all those years ago. He crosses the sea in search of the truth and a way to hold his government accountable. But his investigation is precarious as his people are the oppressors and that masked man is very, very hot.

During an industrial revolution fueled by the cyclical resurgence of magic power, a gay investigator and a butch witch team up to track down spell-casting criminals. However, given that the witch is one of the people who can sense magic and the investigator is one of those that cannot, they have different opinions about what constitutes a “crime.” A once in every three generations burst of magical power is looming. They’ll have to come to some agreement if they’re going to help the inhabitants of the city when they learn the institutions are working to protect their own interests instead of the populace.

The Ocean Worlds Federation is considering allowing the recently discovered human species into their fold. An engineer considers themself incredibly lucky to be chosen as the sole trial-run human on a planetary landing expedition. They try to convince themself they are still very lucky when the expedition's resupply capsule gets lost in space and all their alien crew-mates enact diapause protocols to survive. Alone in counting calories, they still strive to deliver a job performance that proves humanity's place among the stars while grappling with what that even means.

head down to avoid his attention. But as he guides
more and more of her neighbors into disastrous life
choices, she comes to a decision.
